$10 Sushi Deal still going at Aoki!

I read about Aoki's $10 three sushi roll lunch special on Midtown Lunch in early April and I've been meaning to check it out. With the recent price hikes at many Midtown restaurant and the warning "when the old take out menus run out, the prices will go up," I knew I had to try it sooner rather than later and when I forgot my lunch at home this morning it seemed like there was no time like the present to try Aoki...

Since I wasn't sure if they still had the old takeout menus so I decided to take a short walk over to the restaurant myself and if they had the deal I'd go for it. When I arrived the restaurant was packed and there was a short line to be seated. I managed to snag a menu and thankfully the deal was still on there.

$8 buys you 2 rolls and $10 buys you 3 rolls and a soup or salad. I was impressed with the number of rolls you could choose from:

Tuna Roll
Cucumber Roll
California Roll
Avocado Roll
Spicy Tuna Roll
Avocado Cucumber Roll
Salmon Avocado Roll
Shitake Cucumber Roll
Crunchy Spicy Salmon Roll
Sweet Potato Roll
Yellowtail Scallion Roll
Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll
Shrimp Tempura Roll
Salmon Skin Roll
Shrimp Avocado Roll
Vegetable Roll
Shrimp Cucumber Roll
Philadelphia Roll
Boston Roll
Rock Shrimp Roll
Kani Cucumber Roll
Eel Avocado or Cucumber Roll
Vegetable Tempura Roll
Tuna Avocado Roll

Pretty extensive selection and when you consider the price of a single roll, it's an awesome deal.

I went for the Salmon and Avocado, the Shrimp and Cucumber, and the Yellowtail and Scallion. Then I waited. And waited. And waited. At least 20 minutes passed before I got my takeout order (and that's being conservative). Oy. I so did not have time for a long lunch. Finally sushi in hand I headed back to my office.

I was too hungry to take a photo of my salad, but I can attest that the carrot ginger dressing was delicious

1/2 a roll in the savage beast within was soothed enough to appreciate that the sushi was fresh and delicious. Bargain priced without skimping on the fish. And for me 3 rolls were more than ample. All in all, it was a good deal, though the wait was a little crazy. Next time I'll try to call it in or plan for a day when I have more time to linger over lunch.

You are totally right! They did mess us my order...it's funny as I was eating my lunch something felt a little off but I was so hungry I couldn't really figure out what it was! I have to say even though it would have been a nicer balance to have the shrimp and cucumber, the shrimp and avocado was tasty.
