Brooklyn Burger Bar now Brooklyn Flipsters?

Last Friday when I was wandering around Park Slope I noticed a new sign at the corner of 7th Avenue and 9th Street. Brooklyn Flipsters? Wait...I thought that was Brooklyn Burger Bar...

Turns out Brooklyn Burger Bar, formerly Bar Minnow, is now Brooklyn Flipsters. According to the guy in the chef's coat who I spoke to outside, the place has a new owner and an all new menu and was scheduled to open Saturday, July 12th.

I haven't had a chance to try Flipsters out yet and they didn't have any menus posted at the time, but it seems like from the first two reports Flipsters early days it may be suffering from some of the same issues as Brooklyn Burger Bar.

I'm in favor of a new burger joint in the nabe and I like many of the things on their sign. Fries? Yup. Burgers? Yup. Shakes? Yup. Sundaes? Yup, like 'em, too. Our issue with Brooklyn Burger Bar was that the service was slow and the burgers while tasty were pricier and not as good as Bonnie's, Lawman's burger standby. I've been in the mood for a lamb burger and fries, ever since I saw this article on Serious Eats. If Flipsters, has a lamb burger on offer, I might have to check them out very soon...

So this is the deal about the BBB:

I can vouch for the validity of some of the comments because the guy who opened the BBB stole my security deposit too. I don't know who owns "Flipsters" but if it is the same owner, I will boycott for life.

had dinner there last night...food was good, but service was terrible. they had one poor girl manning the bar and waiting on all the tables. We waited to be acknowledge, waited way too long for our food, and waited extremely long for a bill. We saw other customesr leave because no one came by their table after sitting there for 15 mins. They need to get their act together or they aren't going to survive.

That place changes at least once a year. Not sure its ever been worth eating there - i've been disappointed a few times.

Burgers best at Bonnie's on 5th ave!

If the owner is "Mr Rubbish" from Greg's express, I will also boycott forever. I'm not suprised he stole your security deposit, I've had unpleasant dealings with him as well.

Ditto, if the Flipster owner is Greg/Dev Murjani of Greg's Rubbish Removal, I will boycott forever, and I will get the rest of Park Slope to boycott. Greg Murjani is a slumlord and does not deserve our hard earned dollars!

So can we confirm who owns the place now? I boycotted BBB because it sucked, and I'm not interested until I know it's really changed hands.

i hope greg morjani still owns it.. He was great as a landlord and he really took care of my apartment....keep up the good work greg

I might give it a try but the last version of this restaurant (BBB) wasn't so great.

This new restaurant Flipsters is great! The burgers are amazing. I overheard someone saying there is totally new ownership and the service seemed better than Brooklyn Burger Bar. I will definately go back and enjoy another Flipster burger.

I'd be extremely wary of the positive comments here (which are conveniently anonymous)... Greg Murjani and his wife have posted comments to other blogs in the past pretending to be former tenants and customers, not realizing that their email addresses show up in the comments' hyperlinks.

I had Greg and Abby as landlords on Prospect Avenue and they were absolutely horrendous. Our heat wasn't turned on until mid-October and the front door had an opening above it big enough for a person to climb through. Luckily the building was taken over by a legit management company shortly before we left (we were already fed up), but when I found out that BBB was owned by this guy, I vowed to never set foot inside. Mission accomplished, and if it turns out that Flipster's is owned by the same folks, you can bet I'll keep it up.

Flipsters is great had lunch there yesterday and it was mmm yummy...Turkey burger and the popcorn chicken was mmm good.. Service was "GREAT". I'm a old tenant of greg and abby and there great people always fixed my leaks and always had great heat in the winter . There very nice people. Lauren sorry but maybe it was something about you. LOL.
Overall Flipsters is great better then the burger bar and Greg murjani is Great.

I would recommend this burger place to every 1.

Got out of the subway in Bklyn and tried this place. The burger was really good, a better version of Goodburger. Beer was good too, the bartender took care of a lot of customers at once, and stayed organized. Can't comment on the waiters, the owner, etc, was just passing through the (very nice looking) neighborhood.

I was also very turned off by BBB but this was better. Same slow service issues (especially to get the bill!) but the refurbished menu was great. I had the housemade veggie burger - yum!

The only thing that sucked about my experience at Flipster's last night is the fact that the Giants lost. Had a great time with my friends watching the MNF game. Food was great and so was the service. Love this place. Glad i went and can't wait to go again. Go Big Blue...!

The anonymous positive comments are a little sketch - why would you not want to put your name if you've got something nice to say? - but I do like what the BBB has become. I had dinner there earlier this week and while it took a few minutes for a waitress to make her way over to my table, once I had the order in everything was great: the chipotle-rubbed burger they have tastes great, the beer was reasonably priced (for Brooklyn), and there are far more options on the menu than the BBB ever had. Except for the first few minutes, both the waitress and the busing staff were very attentive. It was pretty quiet when I got there at 8 PM (on a week night), but by the time I left things had picked up, so I guess they're doing pretty well.

Absolutely fabulous!I live in the neighborhood with my two boys and this is now our favorite place to go to. I can't keep them away from my sweet potato fries! And they rarely want to share their waffle fries or onion rings! Its pretty funny. We never wait long for our food to arrive, everyone is friendly and when you dine with kids free refills and combos are a big plus! I think their pricing is fine. You are getting fresh food not frozen. Considering the cost of milk and gas, I think they are quite fair with their pricing. We don't eat out much but when we do, we're a picky bunch so for me to take the time to do this review, you should know my kids and I are very pleased and have to say it loud and proud!

I went to this restaurant with one of my friends. It was the first thing we saw when we got off the train and we were hungry. The place is pretty awesome. I had the Organic Burger with sweet potato fries and it was awesome. The food was great and it's not like every other fast food burger place because you can actually sit down and they bring the food to you, full service, which was very good, friendly and attentive. It was a bit expensive but I thought it was worth it. So, if your in the mood for an all-American burger, great selection of almost 20, this would be the perfect place for it.
