Throughout July the Treats Truck held a treat naming contest. Come up with the winning name and The Treats Truck Lady would create a treat to match it. Yesterday the winner was announced: a brand new cookie called The Nutty Co-Worker. I love it! Of course, I'm also a bit partial to the Peanut Butter Jamwich, the runner up name...
...that I came up with! I couldn't believe that my name was picked! When I was in line at the truck the other day waiting behind a couple guys who must have been buying treats for everyone at Merrill Lynch--yes they were taking that long--I started thinking about the treat naming contest and it just came to me....the Treats Truck already makes peanut butter sandwich cookie stuffed with either peanut butter or chocolate. Why not jam? Why not a jamwich?
When I found out that I was the runner up and that the Treats Truck was going to be featuring both treats as specials this week I had to go check it out.
I arrived about a half hour after the Treats Truck set up and the line at 45th street was surprisingly short. The shortest I've seen in a while. It did look like they'd been hit by a few big orders. Fortunately the nutty co-workers and jamwiches were still in stock so I got one of each and waited for Blondie to meet me.
According to Kim the Nutty Co-Worker is loaded with almonds, cashews, and hazelnuts. It looks delicious, but because of my tree nut allergies I can't opine on the taste. Blondie seemed to enjoy it. She liked the crunch of the nuts, but felt their flavor was slightly over powered by the oatmeal and cinnamon. She wondered how it would be with a sugar cookie base and slightly more chopped nuts so you get nuts in every bite.
The peanut butter jamwich was just how I imagined it--two peanut butter cookies sandwiching a thin shmear of both creamy peanut butter and of raspberry jam. Delish. Blondie said she needed a glass of milk, which would have been good, but I thought the cookie was just fine without it. The raspberry jam was tasty, if a bit sweet. The wonderful thing about a peanut butter jamwich is that the jam possibilities are pretty much endless. I'd love to try it with strawberry jam or even apricot. Or grape! Yum! I'd be a fan even if I didn't come up with the name. I hope the Jamwich makes it's way into the regular treat rotation.
