Who's Better?

It all started Tuesday with this post and a picture of fried doughy goodness covered in sugar. And then this happened. And then I saw this. Then the wheels in my brain started turning. It is time. For a showdown!!

In the red corner, we have Cafe du Monde® Beignet Mix, straight from New Orleans, via Dean & Deluca.
Weight: 1 lb, 12 oz.
Height: 8 inches
Cafe du Monde® is the world-renowned cafe in New Orleans French Market, and the epicenter of everything beignets. Any mixture endorsed and distributed by them has to be good.

And in the blue corner, we have one of the recipes floating around the internet.
Weight: Currently about 1 lb, 8 oz.
Height: 4 inches and rising fast.
This is one of about two or three recipes I kept falling on, so I'm giving it a shot.

The fight will commence at some point this weekend, and when the sugar settles, we will have a winner. Stay tuned.

Can you tell me which Dean & Deluca location you went to for the beignet mix? I want to make beignets this weekend for a 36 hour charity marathon and will have lots of food lined up to cook so I don't want to make it from scratch.
