And then I ate some because that's just what I do. I think this year's bumper crop of pumpkins is having some effect on my pumpkin craving. Usually, it's on like a 7 out of 10; this year, it's a 10.5 out of 10. I can't get enough!!
When Ed Levine wrote about a mysterious pumpkin pie concrete, and a Serious Eats commenter said it had been spotted this year, I had to stop by Shake Shack to see if I would be one of the lucky ones. I had gone a few days prior with Brownie, and we saw nothing about "Pumpkin Pie Oh-My" so just imagine my surprise upon arrival last Friday eve.
I had hoped that the concrete would be pumpkin spice custard, this month's Monday flavor, with pumpkin pie pieces. Instead, minuscule pieces of pumpkin pie with crust chunks were dispersed throughout vanilla custard, turning it into a vanilla-pumpkin custard. Delicious. Absolutely delicious.
Remember, Shacktoberfest is going on until Friday, October 17th. Get out there before I eat all the custard!!
