At 10am yesterday morning Magnolia Midtown welcomed their very first customers. By the time we popped by this afternoon the place was hopping...
Now this was actually Blondie's very first visit to Magnolia (any Magnolia). So I offered to treat her. Instead of going for a cupcake she opted for a slice of their Coconut Cake.
Blondie's initial verdict: Hey! This is good! It's not as dry as I was expecting. Oooh, this frosting is marshmallowy!
But after the high comes the crash...

oh f. i'm crashing. i feel light-headed and jittery. oh f. i think my pancreas just excreted my life amount of insulin. oh f magnolia, f!!!!
So...Magnolia is open. And if you aren't a fan of their cupcakes (or cake), Serious Eats: New York has some suggestions for delicious non-cupcake menu items.
According to Cupcakes Take the Cake the hours for this branch will be as follows:
Monday – Thursday
7:00 am – 10:00 pm
7:00 am – midnight
Saturday and Sunday
9:00 am – midnight
It will be interesting to see if those hours stay in effect. The store has a prime location for traffic during the day, but as someone who works in the area and has pulled plenty of late nights in the office, midtown clears out later in the evening.
