The Vendys are almost here! And the Biryani Cart seems to be doing quite well from the exposure...
Yesterday at lunchtime we noticed healthy lines at the side-by-side Biryani Carts. Way to go Chef Meru! Glad to see this local fav of ours getting some nice attention.
Zach Brooks has the full scoop on the Biryani Cart in the run up to the Vendys over at Serious Eats: New York.
Vendy tickets are still available, but going FAST. As of 10/3 there were only 200 tickets left!
Tickets are $80 in advance, $100 at the door (if there are any left!). The cost of each ticket is tax-deductible. And if you have more to donate to the cause, there are $200, $500 and $1,000 donor packages available with lots of extras.
The Vendy Awards is a fundraiser to support the Street Vendor Project of the Urban Justice Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides a voice for the thousands of people who sell food and merchandise on the streets of our city.
And if the sight of this spicy lusciousness from the Biryani Cart isn't inspiring you to buy your tickets, you may be interested to know that a special People's Choice Dessert Truck Category has just been added.
Yes...it's the ultimate trucks that sell dessert and treatlike products showdown. Treats Truck vs. Wafels & Dinges vs. Dessert Truck vs. the Van Leeuwen Ice Cream Truck.
Just think of the delicious possibilities...
