Blondie first introduced me to the wonders of Kee's Chocolates last month. I'd heard wonderful things about Kee Ling Tong's fantastic chocolate creations, but I had yet to try them until Blondie showed me their new midtown outpost. Don't get me wrong. I love chocolate, but fancy premium chocolates aren't really a treat that I would seek out for myself, until now...
Kee's breaks from the standard truffle fare and braves new territory--fennel truffle, anyone? They are just the right size and at $2.35 each they are certainly an indulgence, but definitely a worthwhile one.
This weekend, when we knew we'd be meeting up with some long lost relatives from Lawman's side of the family, the first hostess gift that came to mind was a box of Kee's Chocolates and a quick visit to their SoHo shop revealed that a brand new truffle had joined the Kee's family--the Chili Sesame Truffle. The lady behind the countered told us that Kee had just created this truffle last Thursday. The combination of the salty, nutty sesame seeds with the chocolate and the chili was a real winner. I hope that this new offering finds a permanent place on the menu.
Blondie, I think another Midtown Kee's run may be in order...
