Last month I discovered that Lonelyville, one of my favorite coffee shops in the city, had closed. For good. Rumor has it that a beer and burger place might move in to the old Lonelyville space. Does this spell the end of coffee on Prospect Park Southwest? No! Fear not Windsor Terraceans...
Bene, the neighborhood pizza joint and home of an excellent vodka slice, has expanded their hours. They are now serving coffee and homemade pastries. And one of the old Lonelyville managers is on staff opening up Bene at 7:00am for the pre-work coffee crowd.
I spoke to Bene's owner, Ernie who told me that they've been open for a couple of weeks already. They are brewing their own special house blend coffee and serving Caffe Gioia espresso. In addition to a selection of coffees, teas, and hot cocoa they are also serving pastries including cannoli, biscotti, cupcakes, brownies, croissants, cookies, bagels, muffins and more.
