Chili Takedown

Chili Takedown 2009

Matt Timms knows how to throw a Chili Takedown. There were crowds. Oh there were crowds. And of course there was chili. Yes, indeed chili...

Blondie and I got up at the crack of dawn and started chili cheese pocket aka chili cheese runsa production. This was our first chili takedown. I used my dad's secret Cincinnati chili recipe for the filling (slow, low, lots of spices) and Blondie provided the Dublin Cheddar for the filling. Lawman escaped for the day and we began runsa production with Blondie rolling out the dough circles while I filled the pockets. One hundred and forty pockets were filled, but it was not enough to feed the hungry hoards. We ran out about 3/4s of the way through. Fortunately we brought about a gallon of extra chili, but that ran out, too. These people were hungry. Hungry I tell you!

Cathy over at Not Eating Out in New York has an excellent recap of the evening including all of the winner. Personally was a big fan of Cathy's Recession Chili. Delicious and unique, I'm saving her recipe for my to make list.

While we didn't take the crown, Blondie and I had a great time. Looking forward to the next Takedown. Rumor has it, the takedown is BACON themed. Now that's something I can really get behind...
