Mardi Gras Bananas Foster Custard from Shake Shack
Blondie and I started celebrating Mardi Gras a little early last night at the Shake Shack. I mean how can you resist Mardi Gras Bananas Foster Custard? How?...
The custard had a light banana flavor with hints of caramel and rum. The first thing out of Blondie's mouth was "mmmm, it's boozy." I think that qualifies as certifiably delicious. If you miss out on Mardi Gras proper, the custard flavor is available at the Madison Square Park location through 2/28.
If you do head over to Madison Square Park, beware...the heat lamps aren't working. Sadness.

I don't think the heat lamps have been on at ALL all winter! Boo!
The shake shack outdoor heat lamps are an egregious waste of energy. With the push for sustainability and things that are "green" it is good that these things are not being used this year.
I cannot wait to be in NY (next week!!) and try a shake shack custard! Do you know if I can find out the menu for March as they are usually quite slow at posting it online!
Your blog has given me a zillion places I want to check out!
@kathryn: I know! I think an explanation is deserved!
@anon: well, they're not a waste if they're not on.
@cupcakes: We never know until it's up. They will change over at the Shake Shacks immediately on March 1st. The UWS side still does daily changes, while the Mad. Sq. Park one will probably still be weekly.
Thanks for replying - I'm hoping they have red velvet while I'm there! Am willing to go to the UWS (we're staying LES) to try different ones if need be!
