The Cashew and Strawberry doughnuts come in both the yeast and cake varieties. Blondie is lucky that her commute brings her through Grand Central each morning where she can pick up a cup of excellent coffee from Joe and peruse their Doughnut Plant selection. That’s where she discovered the oh so springlike Meyer Lemon Doughnut, last month's flavor of the month. That's where she spotted this Strawberry Cake Doughnut.
The cake doughnut had a more subtle strawberry flavor than your typical strawberry jelly filled doughnut. I suspect the light and subtle flavor might pair better with a more airy yeast doughnut. And how could you resist a doughnut that looks like this...
Next time my pretty, next time. And for those of you who can eat cashews, please raise a cashew doughnut for me.
Side note: To all of our Jewish friends: sorry for the Doughnut Plant porn during Passover! Either of these doughnuts would be an excellent post Passover leavened treat.
