Yesterday when my 4pm sugar low began to take its toll, I decided to cruise the Rock Center concourse in search of sustenance. My commute takes me by the concourse level Dunkin Donuts so I tend to stay apprised of Dunkin Donuts' new offerings. But this time as I walked by a sign that I hadn't noticed before caught my eye. One hundred and 170 calorie 99 cent egg and cheese breakfast wraps?!
Turns out these .99 cent egg and cheese wraps were new additions to the DDSmart Menu and technically the promotion wasn't starting until tomorrow. But perhaps seeing my sad sunken eyes melted their hearts because I managed to snag one of the very first egg and cheese wraps...
I like things that are 99 cents. And it's certainly a nice price for a breakfast sandwich. Now when you order yours keep in mind that this is 99 cents. It's not going to be a big honking breakfast sandwich. In fact it's rather wee. Definitely fits securely in the palm of your hand. But like the previous 99 cent latte promo at the advertised price you can buy 2 and still make out quite well.
The wrap itself was a pretty standard floury tortilla. Ok, but nothing to write home about. And the cheese was pure processed cheddar goodness. The egg insert was remarkably light and fluffy for a little crescent of prepackaged egg. It's like some secret tester went to Starbucks and tasted their rather spongelike egg insert and vowed that Dunkin Donuts' would be texturally palatable.
The wraps come in egg and cheese and egg and cheese with bacon and according to the signs will only be available for a limited time. at 99 cents and only 170 calories for the egg and cheese (the egg and cheese and bacon wrap is closer to 200+ calories) I would definitely consider this a good buy as long as you keep in mind that you might be back for seconds.
