When Lawman and I returned from Italy our very first food destination back in the motherland was Shopsin's. For pancakes and eggs. Ain't no breakfast like a Shopsin's breakfast especially when the pancakes are made with bacon and the eggs are over french fries topped with cheese curds and smothered in gravy...
So I've had bacon chocolate chip pancakes, but bacon blueberry pancakes never even crossed my mind and I'm not sure why, because it's genius! Sweet plump blueberries and tasty salty bacon should always be together in pancakes. I'll definitely order these again.
My traditional order at Shopsin's is the Piaf. It's been my go to plate for over five years now--I mean how can you go wrong with perfectly scrambled eggs, fried onions, and Gruyere cheese sauce over whole grain bread? But every now and then I like to break out of the mold and try something new and the Diego--poached eggs over French fries with gravy and cheese curds. Poached eggs over poutine! Another brilliant combo. The fries were perfectly crispy, the cheese curds suitably cheesy and the gravy, rich and satisfying. Overall a Shopsins double win!
