Travels with Brownie: Lamb Tacos from the Tijuana Taco Truck in New Haven

Tijuana Taco Truck New Haven
Dateline: New Haven, CT, city of my birth. Location: corner of York and Broadway. Discovery: Lamb Tacos. Luscious lamb tacos from the Tijuana Taco Truck...

As much as I love lamb I've never had it in taco form. Actually I've never even thought of it in taco form. And shame, shame on me because these tacos were absolutely delicious.

Lamb is a strong flavored meat but it held up very well in taco form without being too gamey. I got mine loaded up with lettuce, tomato, salsa, cheese and guac with rice and beans on the side. These tacos were a bit greasy--I prefer to think of it as taco gravy, but be sure to ask for extra napkins and protect your clothing.

Looks like chicken, beef, pork, and veggie are in the regular rotation and lamb is just a special, but if they have lamb on hand, by all means go for it.

Why didn't New Haven have trucks selling lamb tacos when I lived around these parts? Or better yet, why can't we get some lamb taco cart action in midtown?

Really love this blog - came across it via some other blog I don't remember anymore, then forgot to bookmark it and had to spend endless hours on google trying to find it again.
Your reviews and descriptions really make me want to fly to the States, just to try all that food.
