One one thinks of Connecticut certain foods readily come to mind. Steamed cheeseburgers, yes. Warm lobster rolls with butter, yes. Pizza, hells yes. But tacos, mmmm...no. Tacos Mi Nacho in Meriden, CT is changing that perception one taco at a time...
In the interest in full disclosure I am not from Texas. I am not from California. I do not dispute your states mad taco cred. Your reputation isn't in danger of being eclipsed by Connecticut any time soon, but if you love tacos and you love cheap, authentic Mexican food, Tacos Mi Nacho is seriously worth checking out.
If I were a seventh grader I would pass Tacos Mi Nacho a note (though a friend natch). It would probably say something like this:
Tacos Mi Nacho...I like you A LOT. Do you like me (check one):
But the truth is, I'm not in like. I'm in love. With their tacos. Hello, tacos de buche (aka pork stomach aka tender, tasty gateway organ meat). Hello, four other kinds of pork tacos: al pastor, cochinitas, carnitas and chorizo.
And their rocking nachos that come with any meat on top (ANY MEAT!) for $5.75.
But most of all I love their tangy white fish ceviche topped tosadas which at $2.75 each are the steal of the year.
This hole in the wall is hands down the best Mexican food in the Greater New Haven area. Hands down. And if you're passing through CT, it's well worth a detour off of 91 North.
