The cake recipe for this is a moist and easy Devil’s Food recipe, one that I made for my recent Serious Sweets American Classics post on Bumpy Cake. To construct Lambie, I first did a cartoon sketch outline of the little stuffed guy and then cut that form out of cake. (Mmmm…cake scraps). The frosting, too, came from the Bumpy Cake recipe (it’s the buttercream bump recipe with a touch of food coloring).
Next up was some piping action to get that wool down.
Pretty good likeness, no? Little B’s reaction? “Oh, Lambie! You cute!” And then he stuck his hand in the cake.
Lambie looked so happy it was hard to cut into him. But not that hard…mmmm…Lambie.
