Carrot Cake from Fauzia's Heavenly Delights

Carrot Cake from Fauzia's
You know who makes awesome carrot cake? Vendy finalist Fauzia Abdur-Rahman at her Bronx-based cart Fauzia's Heavenly Delights...

I first had Fauzia's cooking at the 2008 Vendy's her eclectic menu includes jerk and curry chicken alongside tons of vegetarian options. I fell in love with the food and we're excited to feature her in our upcoming best of NY street food book.

Fauzia's heavenly delights extend beyond savory fare. Regulars know to save room for dessert like Fauzia's super moist, spiced carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. You know how much that big a hunk of cake would go for in Manhattan? Probably $5 to $6. At Fauzia's it's just $3. As someone with a nut-allergy who also loves carrot cake, I was excited to discover that Fauzia's didn't have any nuts at all (or any raisins for that matter!).

While her location outside the Bronx DA's office may be off the beaten path, if you find yourself at a Yankee game during the weekday lunch rush, definitely pay her a visit for lunch AND dessert.
